Bob started his career practicing law and owned several other businesses before taking over Keystone Ford more than 23 years ago. He has been married to his wife Deirdre for over 40 years and has a son, a daughter and two grandchildren.
Did you play sports at the community clubs when you were a kid?
When I was a kid, I was called a “rink rat” because I played hockey, football, baseball, basketball and golf. I attended Miles Mac school and was actively involved in all sports.
What’s the best advice your Mom ever gave you?
To get a good education and work hard.
What vehicle do you drive?
My wife drives a Lincoln Navigator and I generally drive an All Wheel Drive Fusion.
What’s the nicest compliment that someone has given you about your dealership?
That they felt like part of a family when they come here.
Favourite TV show?
Sports on TSN, Boston Legal and Desperate Housewives.

Bob and his brother Leonard took over the 31-year old family business from his father John in 1984. He is married to Marnie and has three stepdaughters and three grandchildren, ages 1-3.
What do you like best about living in Winnipeg?
The people, the seasons and the ability to drive just one hour to our cottage.

Ford Mustang GT Convertible
What’s the best advice your Mom ever gave you?
Do the best you can at whatever you do.
Favourite meal?
Meatloaf with smashed potatoes, gravy and vegetables.
Most unusual thing in your desk drawer?
Empty containers that used to contain chocolate chip cookies that customers brought in for me.

Owner of Mid-Town Ford since 2001 and a graduate of the University of Manitoba (Commerce), Rob has spent almost 30 years in the car business (25 as a dealer). He and his wife Ana have been married 25 of those years and have two sons, Jason and Logan, who are currently going to school at the University of Manitoba.
Best thing about living in Winnipeg?
I like the people - we have fortitude and vision.
Best road trip?
About 15 years ago, my family went on a road trip through Saskatchewan and Alberta. The water park at West Edmonton Mall was sensational but Banff was the real winner.

Favourite meal?
Well, my most frequent meal is oatmeal for breakfast, but salmon off the barbecue tastes a lot better.
What class at school did you not do well at?
Art.
First car you ever sold?
I was 12 years old, and it was a used 61 Chevy Impala, 4 dr hardtop and the couple had four kids so the car was pretty full when they left.

The nicest compliment that someone has given you about your dealership?
That the people are so friendly.
What was the first car you ever sold?
A Granada that I damaged in front of the customer while driving it off the showroom floor. The customer still reminds me about it!
Favourite way to spend a day off?
In my yard, watching the world go by, waiting to barbecue.
What is the most unusual thing that ever happened in your dealership?
Probably the staff Christmas party we had catered in the showroom with wandering minstrels and a DJ from the heavy metal school of music. It was my idea and I’m not allowed back on the social committee for 10 years!
